The Ithaca City School District is launching a transportation app called Stopfinder that allows caregivers to accurately track their children's school bus in real-time.

Stopfinder, created by the district’s routing software company, Transfinder, is free to caregivers and allows users to customize when they receive alerts about their children’s bus location. The easy-to-use app is secured so only authorized users have access to school bus information.

What the App Can Do

• View your student’s daily transportation assignments – including transfer trips and stops

• Securely share your student’s schedule with caregivers

• Receive notifications and updates related to transportation

• Send real-time vehicle location notifications based on GeoAlert regions you create for your student

The Stopfinder app is available for download in the App Store as well as Google Play:

Access to student schedules is granted only to the student’s designated contacts by the Transportation Department. The Stopfinder contacts, at their own discretion, may share their student’s schedule with caregivers (sub-subscribers).

An invitation to activate your Stopfinder account will be sent via email from the Transportation Department (see the announcements section at ithacacityschools.org/transportation for the rollout schedule). Only the primary contact on file in SchoolTool will receive an invitation email (after setting up the initial account, the primary contact can invite other caregivers to join).

With Stopfinder, caregivers can create GeoAlerts, which will notify you when your student's bus has arrived or departed from any location on their route, including their assigned bus stop and school.
