Three members will be elected to the ICSD Board of Education due to the expiration of the terms of Eldred Harris, Adam Krantweiss, and Moira Lang. The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will each be elected to an at-large full three-year term from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027.

Eldred Harris grew up in the Bronx, NY, and, despite the many challenges he faced in his youth, is appreciative of the opportunities and options his early education provided.
A graduate of Cornell Law School, Eldred has been privileged and grateful to have worked in law, politics, the corporate world, as a fundraising expert, and as a serial entrepreneur.
At present, Eldred enjoys bringing his diverse experiences to bear, working with creative social entrepreneurs. He strives to help make institutions, both large and small, more humane and efficient, leading them to constantly strive to do the best good possible and do it well.
For the last 12-plus years, Eldred has enjoyed working with our area families, teachers, and administrators to ensure students from all backgrounds enjoy successful outcomes through their own school experiences. The challenge of assisting this school district to balance its historical excellence with the increasing demand for more equitable outcomes is one he fully embraces.

Adam Krantweiss grew up in the New York Metropolitan area where he attended public school. His parents were NYC public school teachers/administrators. When he attended graduate school, Adam had the opportunity to work as a summer school and substitute teacher at different alternative high schools in the NYC public school system. He graduated from Binghamton University in 1998 and then returned to school there to earn a Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2004. In 2017, his wife (who grew up In Ithaca and went through the ICSD system) and he moved to Ithaca where their two children attend school in the ICSD.
For the past 20 years, Adam has worked as a clinical psychologist in inpatient and outpatient settings, teaching psychology classes at SUNY Binghamton and Cornell University, and conducting psychological evaluations - frequently to determine the needs of students and US veterans with disabilities.
Adam is now finishing his first year on the BOE!

Todd was born and raised in Ithaca and takes the greatest pride in being an Ithacan. He proudly walked the halls of South Hill, Boynton and graduated IHS in 2000. Todd’s oldest daughter graduated Ithaca High, class of 2023 and he currently has a daughter and son at Fall Creek. Todd is entering his 6th year of coaching elementary girl's basketball (three years at South Hill and two years at Fall Creek) and was PTA president of South Hill during the peak of Covid. He has contributed time and money to the community in a myriad of other ways; helping to support underserved families in the community. Todd’s mother was a teacher's aid at South Hill elementary school for almost two decades, making a lasting impact on anyone she came in contact with. Todd’s roots are deeply planted in this community.
Currently his company is developing Affordable housing projects to provide relief for families and residents from the housing crisis in Ithaca. Todd has developed and managed over $300 million dollars of construction projects since starting his company almost 15 years ago. He manages several hundred construction workers on any given job site at a time, coordinating multiple companies from different trades, orchestrating them together to create a cohesive team.
Todd’s unique skill set is entrepreneurial and innovative problem solving, skillfully managing complex budgets, and bringing difficult projects to life. He is a data driven decision maker that uses extensive due diligence and processes to drive the best possible results.

Moira Lang has been part of the Ithaca community since 1978. She spent 35 years as a secondary English teacher, 25 of those years at Ithaca High School - from 1985 - 2010. Moira received her BA in English from Union College and her MA in English from Middlebury College.
Her daughter and six nieces attended Ithaca schools. Moira's daughter is an English teacher at LACS and her grandson will be attending ICSD schools in the future.
As a teacher in Ithaca, Moira served on numerous committees and was a participant in and leader of diverse projects - including the ICSD Secondary Language Arts Curriculum Committee, the Ithaca Writing Project, and the IHS WISE Program. After four years at Robert College of Istanbul, Turkey, Moira retired from teaching in June 2014. She joined the Board of Education in July 2015.

Emily Workman is the mother of two elementary students in ICSD. She spent half of her childhood in Ithaca, leaving DeWitt after 7th grade, only to return to a town she loved as a child to raise her own kids 4 years ago.
Emily has spent her career in early childhood and K-12 education policy. She has led the state policy portfolio of work at several national organizations, advising state leaders on evidence-based policies that are proven to improve outcomes for children and their families. She is currently Managing Director of Strategy and Partnerships at the Prenatal-to-3 Policy Impact Center at Vanderbilt University. Emily recognizes the critical need for strong leadership in driving policy change, but knows that the real work happens when those policies are implemented.
She is also a certified birth doula.
Emily has a Master’s Degree in Comparative and International Social Policy from the University of York in England and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Duke University.
Because of her deep love and appreciation for teachers, Emily has volunteered as the President of the PTA at Northeast Elementary for the past three years, and as the Vice-President for the ICSD PTA Council. In her 'spare' time, you'll find her screaming on the side lines of her son's baseball games, helping her daughter master her back handspring, whining to her husband about the long winters, and dragging them all on hikes around the beautiful Ithaca area.

Steve is a father of three, volunteer at heart, vision driven, and mission focused leader who loves empowering people and organizations for a better world. Steve brings 14+ years experience cultivating relationships, landing, and managing technical projects, and leading global programs in certification, compliance, and across various sectors. As a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, Steve worked in the extremely challenging and remote nation of Vanuatu, advocating for indigenous peoples to get equitable access to education, healthcare, basic infrastructure, and telecommunications. Steve received his MBA from Central Michigan University. He has a keen ability to compassionately listen, understand the needs of others, and develop winning solutions to benefit all.
