IHS STEM Renovations and HVAC Upgrades

Project Overview

As part of Phase 3b.1 of the 2019 Capital Project, Ithaca High School will see the following upgrades:

  • STEM Renovations/Additions: Addition includes an auto shop and open shop anticipated to be used for Code Red and other robotic education. Renovation of the current area will include four new classrooms, wood shop with new dust collector exterior of the building, welding shop, paint room, clean room, router room, storage room as well as an open shop for equipment/tools. A new gender inclusive toilet room will be incorporated. Office spaces for STEM staff are part of the project as well. Renovation will also include relocation of current data closet and electrical panels.

    • Additionally, a small addition will be going in for a new vestibule/hall to connect Building Q and Building E. This addition will also include a new physics classroom displaced by the STEM renovations.

  • HVAC Upgrades: Lake Source Cooling will be expanding to buildings G and H. Current cooling in other areas of the campus will also be improved, and Cornell will be upgrading its equipment as well.

January 2025 Update from Campus Construction

  • Temporary classroom complexes have been delivered. Set up of both sets by Boxx is ongoing.

  • Sidewalks for each temporary classroom are now complete.

  • Electrical and plumbing tie-ins for temporary classrooms are ongoing and will be complete by

    1/17/25.

  • Owner move in to the temporary classrooms is scheduled to begin on 1/20/25.

  • Helical foundation piles are complete on 1/9/25.

  • Area E concrete sob for renovation area began over holiday recess and final pour was 1/10/25.

  • Crawlspace access door has been installed by the Abatement Contractor.

  • Crawlspace insulation of mechanical and plumbing piping is complete.

  • New UV installation began over winter recess with four new units being installed.
