On September 25, 2024, Ithaca City School District (ICSD) Board of Education President Dr. Sean Eversley Bradwell received a New York State Senate Commendation Award in recognition of his significant and lasting contributions to his community. State Senator Lea Webb presented the award—one of the highest honors a State Senator can bestow—to Dr. Eversley Bradwell and three other New York State educators who have improved the lives of residents in the Southern Tier.
In a news release issued by Senator Webb’s office, Dr. Eversley Bradwell said he is “deeply humbled to receive this recognition” and that “teaching is not a job, it is a calling.”
“Sean has challenged me more than any professional I have ever worked with and has made me a better superintendent,” Dr. Luvelle Brown, ICSD Superintendent, said during the September 24 Board Voting Meeting. “It has been an honor to work with and learn from Dr. Eversley Bradwell. When we have excellence, it is important for us to recognize it.”
Dr. Eversley Bradwell has served on the ICSD Board of Education since 2009. He has been elected president of the Board each of the last three school years and had previously served as vice president for six years. Dr. Eversley Bradwell is an assistant professor in the Department of Education at Ithaca College specializing in educational policy, pedagogy, and social change.
