Entrance of Ithaca High School

As the weather improves, we want to remind everyone about the importance of traffic safety—especially for our bicyclists. This school year, there have been two bike-related accidents along Cayuga Street. Thankfully, no serious injuries occurred, but these incidents serve as a wake-up call to stay alert and proactive.

Please remember:

  • Do not park or stand in the green bike lane—even for a quick drop-off or pick-up. These lanes are designated for cyclists, and keeping them clear is critical for their safety.

  • Be aware of bike riders when turning, opening car doors, or merging across the bike lane. Many cyclists use this route daily and rely on drivers to respect their space.

  • Let’s work together to make our campus safe for everyone—whether on foot, on a bike, or behind the wheel.

Thank you for your attention and for helping make our community a safer, more respectful place for all road users.
