On February 1st, seven Ithaca High School students participated in the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). These students qualified based on their scores on the American Mathematics Competion-12 by ranking in the top 5% of 300,000 students participating nationwide! Liang Cao ranked in the top 2.5% nationwide for the AMC-10.
The AIME is a rigorous 15-question, three-hour exam. No calculator can be used on the exam and all problems can be solved using pre-calculus. We want to acknowledge their strong, mathematical talent, but more importantly, we also applaud their commitment to the contest and willingness to push themselves to the next level.
Congratulations to these young mathematicians!
