About Us
Welcome to Beverly J. Martin Elementary School: a vibrant downtown community school dedicated to developing deep thinkers.
Our school is named in honor of Ms. Beverly J. Martin, an Ithaca educator who is best remembered as a warm, lively person with a great sense of humor, who cared deeply about all children. We embody Ms. Martin’s beliefs.
Our school culture fosters a love for learning and values education as a human right. Together, students, staff, and families focus on continued growth and change. Home and school collaborate to positively impact learning and deepen our understanding of all cultures. We teach and embody the BJM Community Agreement through a school-wide positive behavior system. Go Tigers!
Equity Statement
BJM is committed to fostering community and school success through our shared commitment to the love, liberation, and belonging of all our members. We use our unique voices together to bravely and unapologetically face the inequities in our system. We challenge ourselves to continually improve our culturally, linguistically, and sustainably responsive teaching and learning practices. We open our hearts and share our minds, centering students so they can be successful in their own way. We do this so students have the opportunity to share their hearts, minds, and unique perspectives with the world.
