Ithaca High School senior and National Merit Finalist Mika Gazit, winner of the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering Scholarship

Ithaca High School senior and National Merit Finalist Mika Gazit has been awarded the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering Scholarship.

“Winning this scholarship feels really rewarding,” Gazit - who will study electrical and computer engineering at Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering next year - said. “ It feels like it's validating all the work I did in school.”

About 160 colleges and universities award approximately 3,800 National Merit Scholarships in each annual competition. Only finalists who plan to attend a college or university that sponsors Merit Scholarship awards can be considered for one. Officials of the sponsoring college or university choose the winners.

In addition to the National Merit Scholarship, Gazit was recently awarded the Ruth E. Polson Academic Award and the Samuel McLafferty Memorial Scholarship at this year’s IHS Senior Awards Ceremony. Congratulations, Mika!
